I was born in 1986 in Bogota, Colombia. Since I was a little kid I was interested in music but I never toke any instrument seriously until I was 21. At that moment, I was living in Argentina and loved to listen to music, especially blues but I didn't had the urge to play music. It seemed to me that I was already too old to start learning. My first approach to harmonica was when I bought one of those "Learn to play harmonica" books that included an awful Chinese instrument of really poor quality. After trying with no luck for some days I gave it up and thought, "No, music is not for me".
A year later I was listening to a Kenny Neal record that had some harmonica on it, alone in My Bedroom, with my eyes closed and it was like a revelation. I told myself, "I want to do THAT, I really want to play like that". So, I looked immediately, like there was no tomorrow, for the ugly Chinese harmonica that was stored somewhere and started taking it seriously once and for all. Two days later I bought a Suzuki Promaster Harmonica in C, which I still have in my collection, and I started playing… and I haven’t stopped. .
I have taken classes with Leandro Chiussi, a great and young harmonica player from Buenos Aires. Also with German Pinilla, a great harmonica player from Colombia that sadly nobody outside the country knows. However my mentor is Mariano Massolo, the Argentinean player that helped me shape my playing.
I started recording Voices in February 2013.
Now I'm living in Paris. I’m trying to mix the sound of harmonica with the inherent melancholy of this city.
